Notebook inspired by Paris Petridi's artwork Bethlehem, 2012 , presented at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens in the framework of the exhibition Why Look at Animals? A Case for the Rights of Non-Human Lives.
Paris Petridi's photographs are a record of the mute yet eloquent presence of animals in today's world, as silent witnesses to environments made by humans. Petridis's images invite us to look beyond the surface of things: to acknowledge animals not as part of the backdrop to the environments shaped by humanity, but as beings that share these environments with us, that express them and often struggle to survive in them.
