The catalogue Soul Portraits features over 200 animal portraits created by the artist Alexandros Georgiou during a live art-studio at the ΕΜΣΤ National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens, as part of the exhibition Why Look at Animals? Justice for Non-Human Life. 
Drawing on the tradition of human portraiture, the artist aims to reveal the distinct personality and unique inner world of each animal, going beyond mere representation. 
The publication approaches the relationship between humans and animals with tenderness, attentiveness, and deep sensitivity.
